As the Coronavirus continues to take its toll on the world, governments everywhere are taking precautionary measures to help decelerate the spread of the disease as best they can. The state of Jalisco, where Puerto Vallarta is located, has hit the emergency button, a precautionary step to protect its people. What is the emergency button and what does it mean in terms of a Puerto Vallarta lockdown? Below you’ll find everything you need to know about the Puerto Vallarta travel advisory and any Puerto Vallarta safety warnings you’ll need to heed when visiting the city.

Is Puerto Vallarta Safe to Travel to?

Puerto Vallarta is one of the safest cities in Mexico, and with 4.1 million travelers visiting each year, it is the second most popular destination in Mexico. Due to the Coronavirus, some people have begun to wonder is Puerto Vallarta safe to travel to, but tourists can rest assured that Puerto Vallarta safety warnings are just a precautionary measure to make sure people continue to use appropriate protocols, such as wearing a mask and sanitizing their hands, when out and about in public. Puerto Vallarta coronavirus cases have been kept low by the strict enforcement of these protocols and by businesses and community members doing their part.

Is Puerto Vallarta Shut Down?

No, a Puerto Vallarta shutdown has not been instituted for the two weeks between October 31st and November 14th. For everyone wondering if the news of a Puerto Vallarta lockdown holds any truth, it is easy to be confused. The state of Jalisco hit what they call the “emergency button,” shutting down all non-essential business throughout the state, with the exception of Puerto Vallarta. Because of the relatively low number of Puerto Vallarta Covid-19 cases and the economic importance the city holds for the state, Puerto Vallarta has not been shut down. Rather preventive measures has been put in place, requiring businesses to close by 10:30 pm and community members to be at their place of residence by that time. Everyone is allowed to return to business as normal at 6:00 am.

Measures Being Taken to Curb Puerto Vallarta COVID-19 Cases

State and local authorities have taken the current pandemic very seriously. They implemented a state and Puerto Vallarta lockdown early on when the pandemic began in March 2020, asking all non-essential businesses to close and citizens to stay at home. Even after reopening, mask requirements have been in place, businesses have been asked to check temperatures at the door, and hand sanitizer can be found just about everywhere you go. Social distancing guidelines have been enforced with restaurants keeping parties to 6 or less, tables placed further apart, and in places where people que, markers have been placed to keep people at least 6 feet apart. In addition, the Puerto Vallarta airport has taken extra precautionary measures and they heeded the Puerto Vallarta travel warning by reducing flights to the city for a short time. As Puerto Vallarta Covid-19 cases have been relatively kept under control, with steady numbers that haven’t inundated the hospitals, the city remains committed to following Puerto Vallarta safety warnings and Coronavirus guidelines in order to keep Puerto Vallarta safe to travel to and the community protected.

What a Partial Puerto Vallarta Shutdown Means for My Vacation

For the next two weeks, from October 31st to November 14th, a Puerto Vallarta travel advisory has been put in place, but the reality is that it won’t affect the majority of your travel plans. The Puerto Vallarta lockdown applies only to the late hours of the night, between 10:30 pm and 6:00 am, and it doesn’t change the operations at your chosen resort. You can still play in the pool throughout the day, visit your favorite Puerto Vallarta restaurants for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and partake in your favorite tours. After 10:30 pm, bars and restaurants will close, public transportation, with the exception of taxis, will be limited, and cultural, recreational, and sporting activities will stop. Throughout the rest of Jalisco, a much stricter preventive measures has been instituted because larger cities, like Guadalajara, which is more than a four hour drive away, have seen a rise in cases. Even so, the state remains 9th in number of cases even though it has one of the highest populations in the country.

As Puerto Vallarta coronavirus news takes center stage, it is more important to be informed and use an official source to get your facts. The recent worry over a Puerto Vallarta lockdown seems to have everyone stressed, but the fact of the matter is that there is no Puerto Vallarta shutdown, just preventive measures to keep everyone safe. You and your loved ones can still enjoy an incredible vacation in a town that so many have come to love!
